Google Map API key
When we try to visualize a map on FracTracker, we are currently getting the error message:
"This map needs a different Google Maps API key. A new key can be generated at http://code.google.com/apis/maps.signup.html"

sorry, that url was ....maps/signup.html. It wouldn't let me copy and paste the error message.

I couldn't replicate the same warning you got while visualizing on Fractracker. What datasets are specifically giving you trouble?
Can you also tell me what browser you are using?

Also, please reply to this message and paste the exact URL of the page that is generating the error. My guess is that you might be going to fracktracker.org/* instead of fractracker.org

Yes, that was the problem. I feel duped though. It lets you sign into data.fracktracker.org, and all of the datasets are there from fractracker, and the visualizations too. Try visualizing anything from data.fracktracker.org, and you will see the error message.
If you type the wrong one in the blog part of the site, it seems to redirect to the right one automatically. Can the same be done with the data tool, so users don't mistakenly wind up on the doppelgänger site?

Yep, it's fixed now.
The problem was that there were two DNS entries pointing to the same server, but Google Maps requires requests to originate from a DNS based key. I reconfigured the proxy to bounce any incoming traffic on data.fracktracker.org to data.fractracker.org, which fixes the problem.
Sorry for the weirdness,
Mike
