How can you create a form or survey within a group so that it can be open for users to fill out and update and eventually compiled into a data set.

To make a collaborative dataset, just import an empty one with columns representing the data you want to gather. You can allow members of your group to edit and add records to a dataset by making it editable. You'll see a button to allow you to do this on your dataset information page. Anyone within your group should then be able to access the dataset and fill out records.

You will have to republish your dataset for the new data to show up, but that can happen with the click of a button.

However, we are developing a new feature in the near that will allow users to create html forms to collect data and make doing surveys easier.

    Alison!,
Thank you so much for your help on this topic. It worked perfectly and I really appreciate all of your work to get this data set in. I have one more question and I promise this will be the last one for a while and I think it is pretty easy to answer. Is there any way to reproject Geo TIFF images without arc GIS. Basically I have a lot of Land Cover geo tiffs that are in USA Contiguous Albers Equal Area Conic USGS version X cell Size: 30.00 Meters Y cell Size: 30.00 Meters. When I tried to import them the system said that they needed to be re-projected to WGS-84. Is this possible?
Thanks again for your help and sorry to have a new question every ten seconds.
    Best,

PS: I attached a sample file

    Hi John,

The way I usually do this is using the GDAL suite of tools: http://www.gdal.org/

In particular, the gdalwarp and gdaltransform utilities can do this. (See http://www.gdal.org/gdal_utilities.html for documentation --- unfortunately they are not very easy to use!)

    Mike,
Thanks! It looks like I need to use gdal warp. However I am having difficulty downloading the file. Do you have the link where I can download and install the software?

Look for your operating system in the list. (Note: I haven't used the pre-built versions --- I've only built them myself from source code, so I hope they actually work...)

    Mike,
I am using open EV to try and import and reproject the files. Basically it is supposed to support geo tiff but I can't seem to import anything into the program. Can you please look at the file I am trying to get into the system and tell me what I should add or take out? These Geo Tiffs were downloaded straight from usgs.
    Best,

I think your email system quarantined the attachment. Can you attach the file to the thread on our support site?

Here it is, I think if we can get this to import I should be able to get this to reproject

Hmm, I'm not sure. I unzipped the file, and ran gdalinfo on it, which read the files 08971835.tif and 08971835.aux. It was able to detect the projection. I'm not sure how Open EV differs...
