Visualizing RhizaLabs maps on Google Earth

Hello,

I have created a presentation and when I tried to preview the presentation on Google Earth, the presentation does not run. There is a pop-up on my browser that states "Bad or null KML". I tried previewing the presentation on another computer and the presentation just does not run. The presentation only worked once when I first created a trial presentation. Can you please provide me with a solution.

Furthermore, are there other ways of displaying the presentation (ex. the snapshots) instead of relying on Google Earth?

Thank you for your help! Looking forward to your reply!

Could you post a link to the dataset in question? We'll have a better chance at diagnosing the problem if we can reproduce it ourselves.

Thanks for letting us know about this!

I believe he is referring to the Calgary Timeraiser presentation here:

    Is that correct, Kenneth?

I believe I've identified the bug you've encountered and we're targeting a fix for our end-of-month release. Thanks for informing us of the problem!

    Hi Mike,

Good to hear that you've identified the problem. Is the problem resolved? Recently I've tried to preview my presentation on Google Earth and it doesn't load. How does it work? Should my presentation load automatically once I press the preview icon? More importantly, is there another method to view (preview) my work (presentation)?

    Kenneth,

Our release is still going through testing and won't be out until next week.

The preview button for presentations opens the Google Earth browser plug-in, which is not as robust as the Google Earth application. If you're having trouble with the plug-in, try downloading the presentation and opening it in the Google Earth desktop application.

    Hi there,

I have another concern. I am trying to download the presentation but I can't download it. It transfers me to this link:

What is the problem and how can it be resolve?

    Hi Kenneth,

I believe this is all the same bug. Again, it will be resolved as soon as we do our next release, which is going through testing now. We'll update you in this thread as soon as it's fixed!

    Thanks for your patience,

    Mike

    Hi there,
I noticed that the new release is not out yet.. Is there a date when the new release will be out because the deadline for my presentation is near.

    Hi Kenneth,

The bugfix is deployed on insight.rhizalabs.com. Note: your presentation results in a very large KML file, so it may take a few moments to download. My copy of Google Earth also needed a few minutes to digest it, but then it ran fine.

(I'm not sure if the Google Earth browser plug-in has the horsepower to display this tour...)

    Mike
