Dataset page - an introduction
DATASET HELP
The dataset preview page shows you information about a particular dataset in the system.
The first section shows you simple summary information, including the name, description, and uploader of the dataset. It also shows classification fields (if any) for the dataset --- click on them to search for related datasets. You can also track which snapshots use the dataset, and which collections are storing it. Finally, there are shortcut buttons that let you visualize or download the dataset.
The second section shows a more detailed view of the metadata about the dataset. This metadata is a subset of the FGDC standard.
The third section shows details about the attributes in the dataset, or a preview of the raster image if it is a raster dataset. Position the mouse over an attribute name to get additional details about the attribute. It also shows the first ten records of the dataset.
Using the action menu in the upper right of the page, you can save the dataset to one of your collections, visualize it, download it, or view the comments on the dataset. If you are the uploader of the dataset, you can edit the metadata by choosing the appropriate menu option.
You can comment on the dataset by clicking on the "more details and comments" link.
