Turning on forms

You must enable your form to collect data from other websites before you can start distributing your form. You can do this by navigating to your dataset's display page and clicking on the 'Allow Editing' button. This will allow your dataset to be updated with new data. If your dataset already allows editing, just click on the 'Edit records' button.

Next, click on the Action menu on the upper right. Select 'edit form presentation'. This will take you to a page where you can control ways of collecting data for your dataset and from where. To enable collection from websites outside of Insight, click on the checkbox labeled 'Allow submissions from other websites'.

You can also use this menu to make your dataset available to collect data from our mobile app. Check the box labeled 'Allow submissions from mobile devices'.

If you want to restrict websites that can host your form you can use a whitelist only allow sites you specify, or you can use a blacklist to block unwanted sites. List the sites in the box available, separating them by comma.

Click 'submit' at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

Embedding a form in your site

Now that you have your form enabled, click the title of your dataset to go back to the edit page. If you enabled your form correctly, there will be a new button labeled 'Share Form'. Click it and a menu panel will appear.

The menu panel will allow you to customize how your form looks.

You'll be given two options for adding a form to your site. You can use the url displayed next to 'link' to allow users to navigate directly to a form hosted on Rhiza Insight. Otherwise, you can use the code next to 'embed' to add a form right on your own site using an iframe. You can even select the dimensions of the iframe for an exact fit.

You can also select whether you want a title or header to appear. A title includes the site logo and can be skinned to be a highlighting color. The header includes brief instructions, as well as links to your dataset and Insight's homepage.

You'll have control over the appearance by selecting fonts and colors. Specifically you'll have the option to set the following:

Primary Font: The font used for all text in the form other than attribute titles
Primary Text Color: The color of all non-link, non-attribute text in the form
Link Color: The color of text links; link, hover, and visited will all be the same color.
Attribute Font: This covers the title name of each form field.
Attribute Text Color: The color of each title name
Background Color: The overall color of the form
Title Bar Color: The background color of the title bar at the top of the page

Once you start collecting data you'll be able to view, edit, and delete records on your dataset's 'edit records' page.
