Make a new Map Based on an Existing Map

To create a new map that is a variation of an existing map:

Open the snapshot you are interested in.

From the Action menu in the upper right corner above the map, select the option:
Base a new visualization on this one

This will now create an editable version of the map. You can now change the colors on the map and change what data is displayed on the map by altering the attributes that are displayed from the original datasets or by adding new data to the map.

For help with customizing your new visualization see: Making Your First Map

Once the map looks the way you would like, you need to save it as a snapshot.
From the Action Menu in the upper right corner, above your map, select Create Snapshot

A box will open where you can add information about your new Snapshot.
You will need to give it a title and can also give it a description.

Live Snapshots
You should decide whether the snapshot is live. If you know there will be ongoing updates to the underlying dataset(s) and you would like the map to always reflect the most current version of the data, check the Live box. If you would like your snapshot to reflect a view of the data at one point in time, regardless of future changes to the underying dataset, do not make your snapshot live and leave the Live box unchecked.

Public vs. Private Snapshots
You can make your snapshot available to all users of Rhiza Insight or you can save your snapshot to a private workgroup. If you want to restrict your dataset, select the appropriate workgroup from the drop down list. If you want to create a new workgroup, contact your administrator.

Save to Collection
Your snapshot will always be available from your Library, but sometimes it is also helpful to save snapshots to a specific collection, to make it easier to find. Select the Collection you want to save it to on the dropdown menu or choose the option "create a new collection" from the same menu.
